Getting the basics right is the first step in developing good stroke technique.
We teach small progressions to build competence in the four recognised strokes; freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly, as well diving, safe water entries and survival strokes.
We reward children for achievements in technique and, as they become more proficient they are also rewarded for the distances swam.
Sue Pryor Swimming has a strong emphasis on teaching water safety. Children will be taught survival strokes, the use of survival aids, how to recognise dangers and the appropriate way to approach rescues, relative to their age and ability. These important skills are covered throughout the year to develop skills then put to the test in one SwimSAFER week each term. For more information about SwimSAFER please click here.
